Breaking News!:Elena Kagan to Supreme Court

The Senate today confirmed Elena Kagan to the U.S.

…Some Republican leaders and conservative interest groups also warned lawmakers over Kagan’s anti-gun, pro-abortion views.

“Be careful about it, because I’m afraid that we have a dangerous, progressive, political-type nominee,” said Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions in a floor speech last week. “I don’t think the American people are going to hold harmless those who vote to impose a legal progressive, activist legislator from the bench upon them.”

But Democrats, who have been concerned about conservative “activism” from the bench, say Kagan will be a mainstream, moderate voice on controversial topics such as campaign finance reform and employment discrimination.

“She gives balance to the court. I think she’ll follow in the best traditions of Justice Stephens,” said Maryland Democrat Sen. Ben Cardin on “Top Line.” “I think she’ll bring the type of leadership on the Supreme Court that will help ordinary Americans with their fight against big government and special interests.”…

How to Piss off Liberals on Twitter

I thought I’d seen it all.

…”10. Some Liberals try to pretend they are ‘normal’ when debating you. They will make little digs at you that are extremely immature without being outright nasty. Point this out and ask them to debate like adults rather than 12 year olds.”Vs.”4. Liberal ‘men’ (I use the term men loosely here..”"5. Some Liberals HATE when you call them ‘Sweetie’ or ‘Sweetheart’. For some reason they believe this is demeaning. It may very well be but use it.”I guess immature digs are o.k., but only if you aren’t a liberal. Keep on yelling into the echo-chamber, maybe someone reading your blog will be stupid enough to not see past the obvious. Even when it is plainly pointed out to them, as above.Have a nice day, Sweetnut….

Humiliated by NewsReal Editors, Olbermann Discovers an Easie

Keith Olbermann is a phenomenal ass. His viewers know it, his critics know it, and now a 12-year-old kid who goes by the Twitter handle @americanpenguin knows it.

…Keith Olbermann is a phenomenal ass. His viewers know it, his critics know it, and now a 12-year-old kid who goes by the Twitter handle @americanpenguin knows it.
After two long years of watching Countdown day after day, not missing one episode at all, I think something has gotten into this man.
For me, his decline started with the McChrystal Special Comment. Since then, he has gone down hill, especially, on Twitter.
I don’t know what is wrong with him, now, and I’m not sure I want to know. Whether it’s the fans he has on Twitter making him think he is by far superior to everyone, or if he just needs a vacation. But, what he has done
Two days ago, I asked him if he could follow me. Not a strange request, is it? Anyhow, it turns out I misused the word protege in a sentence, and for that, he blocked me, and gave a rather rude reply:

Well, whatever you think of that, it hurts when you’ve been watching 2 years straight. So I posted about this on Twitter,…

More Helen Thomas bigoted rant fallout: kick her out of WH

Davis dismissed Thomas’s apology as “not direct,” and “asking Blacks to return to African” – said that “Helen Thomas, who I used to consider a close friend and who I used to respect, has showed herself to be an anti-Semitic bigot.” And Sarah Palin, on her Twitter stream: “Helen Thomas press pals condone racist rant?

…Sadly, there’s a reason that the pro-Israel (are they a US State?) group is up-in-arms about Thomas statement…It gets to the core of the problem in the Middle East. The perception of the majority is that ‘Israel’ was a created entity bestowed upon the Jews world-wide. Since Israel did not ‘win’ the land, there is animosity from it’s neighbors. The legitimacy of Israel as a “Jewish State” is questioned by the non-Jewish states that surround it. The outrage by Lanny Davis, Ari Fleishman, et al…does not dismiss the fact that Israel as a Jewish State was something created by the allies post-WWII. The powerful pro-Israeli supporters will not let Thomas get away with an apology for her insensitive remarks. The suppression of her remarks will be applied here. Unfortunately that suppression does not extend to the belief of the Palestinians and the large majority of the Middle East….Here so-called anti-semitic beliefs represent the very foundation of the problems in that region….

Should the Library of Congress Save Every Tweet?

The venerable institution is adding the vast majority of tweets sent since March 2006 to its online archives to save them for posterity.

…Are you a Twitter user? Then congratulations your everyday, 140-character updates may have won you a place in the Library of Congress. The venerable institution is adding the vast majority of tweets sent since March 2006 to its online archives to save them for posterity. Given Twitter users post around 55 million messages a day, that’s a lot of data. Is it a good idea to record every spur-of-the-moment tweet?
It’s a worthy snapshot of American culture: Twitter’s content might seem trivial, says Jared Keller in The Atlantic, but it provides “important insights into the minds of average Americans.” Almost one in five internet users in America use Twitter to share their thoughts. Everything on it, even “feverish anticipation of the newest Justin Bieber album,” is evidence of the “constantly metamorphosing character of American culture.” That’s worth preserving. “Twitter is forever”
Don’t I get a say about this? But there’s an ownership issue here, says Heidi N. Moore in Big Money. Twitter users never agreed…

The vote: Open thread; Reports: Dems don’t have the votes

The House has just voted 228-195 to proceed on the Wreckonciliation votes. This could go on until midnight.

…you do not know what a blood oath is
Yes and its still weird.
My yes is yes and my no is no. I don’t need a blood oath.
If you are so commited to defending the Constitution then why dp you at the same time paint a fatalistic picture of current events?
We have work to do. Had it before today. Will have the same work to do tomorrow.
Work locally to get conservatives elected in 2010 and 2012. Same job as Friday, same job we will have Monday.
This vote changes little….

Patrick Stewart is not a fan of Twitter

You would think that the man who has played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and Professor Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films would be an early adapter of new technology. But apparently, 69-year-old actor Patrick Stewart isn’t as much of a techie as you might expect.

…? 140? Just seems to me to be a little bit simplistic, Stewart said. Maybe I like complexity and abstraction too much.
Blasphemy!
Personally, I find the art of saying a lot in only 140 characters to be far more challenging than saying nothing in 140,000 characters.
Stewart also admitted in the interview that he is afraid of getting hooked on video games and that he loves his beautiful iPhone. Regardless, that still doesn’t make up for dissing Twitter….
