Rusko calls Deadmau5 a "Skinny Little C*nt" on Twitter

Ah, the joys of Twitter. Not only do we get instant access to artists and their inner thoughts but occasionally those same artists seemingly forget that it’s a very public outlet. Or they just don’t care. The latest Twitter drama comes from UK dubstep merchant Rusko, who’s started feuding with Canadian superstar Deadmau5.

…As entertaining and poorly spelled as that all was, we have to wonder which side is telling porkies here? Did Deadmau5 really bust Rusko for blazing up? Did Rusko just make it all up? Will Harold ever come back to Neighbours? So many questions, so little time….

The rest is here:

Facebook vs. Your Medical Privacy: What You Need to Know

If your medical records were online and held privately by a hospital or doctor, would you trust that situation?

…however, when disseminated on media-sharing sites such as YouTube or Google Video, they carry the potential for significant public impact and viral spread of content.
And, in some cases, it appears that medical students may not be aware of how online posting can reflect negatively on medical professionalism or jeopardize their careers. At one institution, teaching about how to elect privacy settings on Facebook resulted in an 80 percent decrease in publicly accessible accounts.
Resolution
Unlike using HIPAA to regulate patient confidentiality, the social networking world is unregulated for medical students except through the Dean’s office and in some cases, those policies are not in place. Also, it appears that relevant laws, such as HIPAA, are not incorporated into regular instruction for medical students. In a later study, it was shown that most deans were not familiar with Web 2.0 technology, and that this unfamiliarity may contribute to the lack of recognition of not only potential misuse but also the…

5 Things Twitter Shouldn’t Adapt from Facebook

What if Twitter keeps adapting itself to be more similar to Facebook? It’s been recently reported that Twitter is testing a new “You’re Both Following” feature, which is clearly inspired by Facebook’s “Mutual Friends” feature.

…of coming up with a creative response, users can still leave a notice of appreciation. While someone could argue that this feature is positive, I truly hope it does not translate over to Twitter. Why? Because Twitter is lazy enough already! Besides the fact that you can simply…

The Twitter Bird Prank at SXSW [w/ VIDEO]

On the day that Twitter CEO Evan Williams would be the keynote speaker at SXSW, pranksters decided to dress a guy up as a fake Twitter mascot, then crash a conference of 10,000 rabid Twitter fans.

…”The bird was hospitalized for exhaustion”

Dehydrated and woozy, Fake Twitter Bird began insulting those around him, slurring his words. “Get that zhing outta mah fashe! Donna make me call in zhe whale!” Please don’t ask me why he became Italian. “Getta me some worms! I WANNA WORMS!”

Fake Twitter Bird’s handler rushed to his side. “This is inappropriate,” I said. “You’re representing a major corporate sponsor. You need to stop.”

“Leggo my arm!” yelled Moses through his enormous helmet. “Leggo and gimme a bowla worms!”

“Okay, let’s go, pal,” I said, lifting him from his seat, as he fought me. Eventually, he relented, and I escorted him to the back of the convention hall. Laughing, people rushed to their 140-character CB radios to tweet the news: the Twitter Bird was getting kicked out of the Twitter conference….

Cato’s health care expert weighs in on reconciliation(NSFW)

From a March 4 post on Twitter by Michael F. Cannon, Director of Health Care Policy Studies at the Cato Institute.

…Why on Earth would the Cato Institute not immediately sever all ties with this guy?

Seriously. People get canned for a lot less than this. And their stupidity isn’t splashed all over the Internet for the world to see….

Every Linux Twitter Application Reviewed!

A jolly nice overview of pretty much every native Linux twitter application and a few Adobe Air based mentions. Rounded out with a handy comparison chart!

…mentions, direct mentions) and the compose field is toggle-able. Good Multiple account support Menu full of smilies (No, really!) In-app Tweeter stats Bad The lack of a tray icon just bugs the hell out of me Download http://getbuzzbird.com/ Qwit Version: 1.0 Beta Another QT application but this one isn’t designed specifically for a KDE desktop. In fact Qwit is, in many respect, the perfect desktop twitter client. It pretty much has it all Twitpic integration, URL shortening, follow/unfollow options FeaturesThe biggest shout out one can give to Qwit is praise for it’s interface. It is unique from other applications in this list but better because of it. The view tabs on the side are very useful and varied in filters. You can even set up a ‘custom’ view for favourite searches e.g. mentions of ‘banjo kazooie’ or ‘Ubuntu’. This feature alone saves you needing to manually search for a specific topic again and again. Direct twitpic uploads are supported allowing you to never open a browser to share a photo….

Twitter to copy Google’s search ads so they can make money

Twitter’s got a new plan to make money from its ultrapopular micropublishing system — copy Google’s lucrative search ads — according to All Things D.

…t see them in their regular Twitterstreams . The services will have the option of displaying the ads, and Twitter will share revenue with those that do.
That’s a fine way to start, because it won’t really interfere with the current reading and publishing of the system, and allows the company time to tune its algorithms. Google’s tech juggernaut runs on text ads, and still makes some 60 percent of its more than $20 billion annual revenue from these kinds of contextual ads placed next to search results the first ad product it ever introduced.
Google makes about a third of its money from its AdSense program, which lets publishers sign up and have little text ads run on their websites.
That kind of program is the logical next step for Twitter, allowing users to sign up to have, say, every 10th post be an ad placed through Twitter. That ad is related to something the user is talking about (an ad for a nearby restaurant if a user is talking about a neighborhood), or simply a branded ad placed because the…

Twitter’s Innovative Ad Platform: ‘TweetWords’

Twitter has managed to create quite a bit of hype with its long awaited ad platform. There haven’t been any actual details on how the company plans to implement ads on the site but, if you take Twitter’s word on it, they will be “fascinating,” “non-traditional” and “really cool.”
