Donald Glover Campaigns for Spider-Man Audition

Derrick Comedy member and star of NBC’s Community (and the feature film Mystery Team, recently released on DVD) Donald Glover has started a campaign on twitter to get an audition for the role of Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s 3D Spider-Man Reboot. The comic actor is encouraging fans/followers to retweet the hash tag #donald4spiderman.

…I take great offense to the people saying that I’m racist because I don’t want Spiderman to be black? I am sure he would do a well enough job with the script provided but the fact remains that Peter Parker is a WHITE guy. I couldn’t stand it when Wilson Fisk was played by Michael Clark Duncan and I wouldn’t like it if Luke Cage was played by some big white guy. Race isn’t even the issue to me, it is authenticity to the character. I didn’t mind Nick Fury being black because in the Ultimate Universe he was modeled after Sam Jackson. So there is a basis for that casting and not some arbitrary race change. I would be angry if all of the sudden the movies portrayed Ben Grimm to be Catholic and Matt Murdock to be Jewish. I mean I look back at the Incredible Hulk TV show and cringe at the fact that Banner’s name is David and not Bruce. I just got back from San Francisco Monday. I went up to join in a protest of the Scientology rally against the American Psychiatric Association convention at Moscone Center. Along with a march down Market Street, the Scientology front group, Citizens Commission on Human Rights, was hosting a traveling roadshow entitled, “Psychiatry, Industry of Death.”

Approximately 400 Scientologists from all over the country showed up for this march, waving pre-fab signs and chanting pre-fab slogans provided them by the mother ship.

The ‘Industry of Death’ exhibit has a permanent museum in Hollywood, and this road show travels around the country spreading lies and misinformation about the psychiatric profession.

Businesses Look To Control Facebook, Twitter Use

Highly regulated industries, such as financial services, are scurrying to control how social networking sites are used by their employees because if they don’t, they could wind up in civil or federal court.

Botched McAfee update shutting down XP machines worldwide!

It’s the AVocalypse! A bad McAfee for Windows XP update is causing computers worldwide to shut down.

…1 (6am Pacific Time).

Our initial investigation indicates that the error can result in moderate to significant performance issues on systems running Windows XP Service Pack 3.

The faulty update has been removed from McAfee download servers for corporate users, preventing any further impact on those customers. We are not aware of significant impact on consumer customers and believe we have effectively limited such occurrence.

McAfee teams are working with the highest priority to support impacted customers and plan to provide an update virus definition file shortly. McAfee apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers
Ouch — that might be the understatement of the year. We’ve definitely hearing this affects SP2 as well, we’ll keep looking for more.
