Twitter Launches Tweet Button Bookmarklet

About a week ago, Twitter introduced the official Tweet Button to make it easy for users to share a story or link with their followers. But this only works if the websites embed the Tweet Button. Now Twitter has introduced a Tweet Button Bookmarklet which allows users to share any link on the web with just a few clicks.

…About a week ago, Twitter introduced the official Tweet Button to make it easy for users to share a story or link with their followers. But this only works if the websites embed the Tweet Button. Now Twitter has introduced a Tweet Button Bookmarklet which allows users to share any link on the web with just a few clicks.

“Last week, we announced an easy-to-install and lightweight Tweet Button that allows publishers to make it easy for users to share a link to their content on Twitter. Thousands of sites have implemented the Tweet Button already,” Twitter writes.

“But what if you go to a site that doesn’t have a Tweet Button? Have no fear,” the blog post added.

“Today, we’re making available a Tweet Button Bookmarklet that allows you to tweet a link with your own commentary from anywhere on the web. You just need to drag and drop the Bookmarklet into your browser’s bookmark bar,” it announced.

Twitter Rolls Out New ‘Follow Suggestions’ Feature

In comes a brand new Twitter feature (Tweature!). Starting today, Twitter will extend a hand by offering tailored suggestions of whom to follow.

…Here is what it looks like on my homepage:

And here is a screenshot of the full Suggestions tab:

According to the Twitter blog, the suggestions are based on several factors, including people you follow and the people they follow. You’ll see these suggestions on Twitter.com and the Find People section.
There will also be suggestions waiting for you on other people’s profile pages. The rationale behind this is that if you’re interested in this user, they can show you others you could be interested in as well.

And it won’t stop there. Twitter has announced that this feature will soon be made available for developers too. We will be launching an API so third parties can provide these suggestion features in your favorite desktop, mobile, and web applications.
What do you think of this new feature? Useful? Redundant? Will it present dead people to follow as Facebook has done recently?
