China-Based Hackers May Have Used Twitter, Google to Attack

A group of researchers has linked a huge, China-based cyber espionage ring to the theft of thousands of documents — including classified information, visa applications, and personal identities — from “politically sensitive targets” around the world.

…The Shadow Network is not linked to earlier attacks uncovered this year by Google and also based in China, nor is it related to GhostNet, a network identified by the same researchers as having targeted the community of Tibetan exiles. However, this new network is linked to two individuals and a core of stable servers in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China. Chinese officials have repeatedly denied any government connection to these cyber espionage activities. Confirmed: Final Fantasy IX coming to Playstation Network.

After a couple of weeks’ worth of teasing, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada confirmed during a brief Twitter video that the best Final Fantasy game ever created will soon be released on the PlayStation Network.

…After a couple of weeks’ worth of teasing, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada confirmed during a brief Twitter video that the best Final Fantasy game ever created will soon be released on the PlayStation Network.
Just in case any of you forgot which Final Fantasy was the best, it was of course, Final Fantasy IX for the PlayStation. Final Fantasy VII might have brought the series into a new age, and Final Fantasy VI (III in North America) had the best cast and the most insane villain in franchise history, but there’s one thing neither of them had.
This guy:

Vivi wins, every time, and if you feel like arguing about it, I shall channel the very spirit of the internet into one giant, all-encompassing ‘You are wrong.’ Just imagine me saying that after every argumentative comment, and I can relax and eat my Chinese food.
Anyway, we’ll soon be able to carry him around in our pocket, or play with him on our PlayStation 3 brand console product. So says Yoichi Wada, via his tiny Twitter video. Hit up the link to see Yoichi…

Give Your Readers Personalized Content with My6sense

My6sense is a mobile app that basically gets to know what you like and what’s important to you, after which it organizes and filters your different web content — RSS feeds, Twitter messages, Facebook updates — based on your preferences.

…the Attention API is the latest addition to the my6sense stable of tools, allowing publishers integrate their own feeds into my6sense, so that users can get personalized content from that source. This data can also be integrated into other mobile applications and also with other services.A possible use case would work like this: A user could choose to subscribe to a my6sense stream of Mashable.com and in turn would get served the content that they most want to see in order of importance and interest. So instead of having to go through all the articles in an RSS feed, the most important stuff will bubble up to the top.My6sense is useful and usable as a mobile application, but having that type of technology expanded to other apps and other platforms makes a lot of sense. The Attention API will be in closed beta for a few months, but potential Attention API partners can sign up at my6sense.comPrint StoryTags: attention api, demo, demospring10, my6sense, semantic webMore Stories in Tech Give Your Readers…

"Avengers" Script Finished and Submitted for Review

Yesterday brought word that Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada is sitting down to read The Avengers script. Quesada broke the news himself via Twitter.

…Here is the Tweet that Quesada sent out to eager Marvel movie fans everywhere:Definition of goose bumps. Pressing enter and watching a screenplay entitled AVENGERS come out of my printer.A second tweet followed soon after that. Here’s what it said: It’s official, I have the greatest job in the world. For those of you who have been keeping up with our Avengers coverage here at Screen Rant (and why shouldn’t you be?), then you would know that since last summer screenwriter Zak Penn (X2, Incredible Hulk) has been hard at work trying to connect all the necessary superhero dots into a cohesive Avengers script. The assumption is that the script Quesada is reading is a finished early draft of Penn’s script. Once Quesada and others have had a chance to read through it, the script will enter the revision phase.PennAs Avenger fans, our shared hope is that A) The script kicks ass and B) That while this draft is making the rounds some choice early details get leaked to we, the ever-watching online press .Stay tuned…

Twitter Ads Imminent, Might Actually Make Money

One of the games that digital prognosticators love to play is guessing when and how Twitter will make money.

…One of the games that digital prognosticators love to play is guessing when and how Twitter will make money. We’ve taken particular joy in lambasting one of our favorite social networks for absorbing investor dollars like a black hole. But all of the fun and games may be coming to an end now that rumors are swirling of a Twitter Ad platform that will be unveiled at South by Southwest (SxSW) Interactive.

According to MediaPost, Anamitra Banerji, head of product management and monetization at Twitter, has confirmed that the service is working on an advertising platform. This is following a panel on interactive advertising hosted by Seth Goldstein, CEO of socialmedia.com, where Banerji reportedly unveiled Twitter’s plans in a relatively vague fashion. According to Goldstein and MediaPost, the plan is to let brands and companies interact with consumers and capitalize on trending topics (can’t they already do this?), as well as ensure that the delivered content is “relevant and useful.” Banji also indicated that…
